Saturday 9th November
North Ayrshire Wild v Paisley Pirates – Stuart Robertson Cup – Home Game.
Wild edge out Pirates double header!
Saturday night saw the first visit of local rivals Paisley Pirates to Auchenharvie, and some bad bounces and slack play saw the visitors jump out to an early lead, going in 3-0 up at the first interval.
2nd period and the Wild came out with more resolve, and picked up a goal to cut the deficit, Adam Kerr scoring, assisted by captain Callum Siebenaler, although it was short lived, as Pirates scored again within 20 seconds to restore the 3 goal margin.
Play went end to end, with Wild getting more into the game as it progressed, but there was no further scoring before the next interval.
Inspirational team talk from coach Cowan at the interval saw the boys come out flying in the 3rd period to score 3 unanswered goals to tie the game, the equalising goal coming with less than 2 mins to go. Ryan Parkin with a double, and Captain Siebz with the equaliser just when it was needed.
A frantic last minute saw some heroics from netminder Scott Blackwell to keep the scores level, and set up an exciting 2nd encounter in Braehead.
Final score: Wild 4 – 4 Pirates.
Sunday 10th November
North Ayrshire Wild v Paisley Pirates – Stuart Robertson Cup – Away Game.
After last nights heroics, your Wild team were fired up for a big game in Braehead tonight and they did not disappoint.
A double from Martin Cardno, and a power play goal from player coach Scott Cowan saw the boys take a commanding 3-0 lead in the first period.
They fully expected the Pirates to come at them hard in the 2nd, which they did, however their short bench was struggling to cope with the energy and desire of the Wilds 3 lines and the intensity they were bringing to the game. 2 more goals from Andy Barr and Marc Fowley saw the Wild take a commanding 5-0 lead before Richard Thorpe got the Pirates on the board.
Wild then lost Marc Fowley for 14 mins on a fighting penalty for taking exception to the attention being shown to netminder Scott Blackwell.
The game continued with the Wild’s intensity dominating and being rewarded with a 6th goal scored on the backhand by Liam Anderson.
3rd period sees the Wild run into some penalty trouble as the Pirates increased the pressure chasing the equaliser, and a 5 on 3 Power play results in 2 goals from Adam Walker and Connor Spiers.
The game then gets heated and a couple of guys from each team leave the action early but there is no further scoring and the Wild leave with the points in the bag and a semi final slot in the Stuart Robertson cup.
Final Score Wild 6 – 3 Paisley Pirates.
North Ayrshire Predators U16’s v Lanarkshire Lightning at The Time Capsule, Coatbridge.
Final Score Predators 2 – 4 Lightning. Man of the Match Josh Carslaw.
