Saturday 15th September

Our SNL Team North Ayrshire Wild welcomed Solway Stingrays for the return leg of The Robertson Cup.

They say Wild animals hunt in packs! Well they certainly did that on Saturday with the return leg of the Robertson Conference Cup.  The Wild came out the cage thirsty, alert and hungry for  another win. Ending the 1st period 7-1 up.

With Solway starting to look tired in the 2nd period, in what must have felt like a long night, they still managed to score their second goal but the Wild were not giving anything up, they kept creating breakouts with speed and accurate passing that made for many goals and 2nd period ended 19-2.

The 3rd period consisted of the same pace and effort with the Wild dominating the play, working together as a team they converted all the chances made into goals, putting them all in the back of the Solway net.

What a night to remember & a great boast ahead of the ‘local derby’ next week away to Kilmarnock.

Goals from 13 different Wild players but special mention to Adam Kerr & Andrew Barr who scored 4 each.

Final Score Wild 24 – 3 Stingrays. Man of the Match – Andrew Barr

Sunday 16th September

3 away games today;

Our Predators (U16’s) away to Lanarkshire at the Time Capsule.

In what was always going to be a closely contested game it was the Predators who scored 1st with less than 3 minutes on the clock, Lanarkshire fought back with 2 quick goals before Predators scored again only for the Lightening to score 40 seconds later to finish the 1st period 3-2 ahead of us.

The 2nd period was level pegged until Lightening found the net only to cancelled out by a goal from the Predators 4 seconds later and then again 13 seconds before the end of the period to bring it back to a nail biting 4-4.  With tensions high on the ice and a nervous excitement in the rink it was the Predators who found a way through and clinched the winning goal while holding position and keeping Lightening from getting near their net.

Final Score Predators 5 – 4 Lanarkshire – Goal scorers – Antony Curlett x 3, Harvey Hughes & Cole McMurdie.  Man of the Match – Antony Curlett.

Next our Penguins (U14’s) away to Kirkcaldy at Fife Ice Arena.

This was an evenly matched game with both teams hungry for the win.  It was The Penguins who opened the scoring in the 1st 2 minutes of the game with a goal from Jacob Woods, only for Kirkcaldy to fight back minutes later with their 1st goal, this was followed up with a further 3 goals before Penguins found the net just before the end of the 1st  making it 2 -3 to Kirkcaldy.  The Penguins cam out fighting and again were 1st to score with an unassisted goal from Liam Houston, chased with a Kirkcaldy goal before an unassisted goal from Flynn Massie(C) 30 seconds later.  With the 3rd period starting 4-5 to Kirkcaldy it was all to play for, The Penguins scored seconds into the 3rd period Thanks again to Flynn Massie this time assisted by Jacob Woods.  The team done all they could and kept fighting right to the final buzzer but were beaten by 2 lucky late goals from Kirkcaldy

This game had everyone on the edge of their seats, was fast paced, skilled passes, great communication and team play from both sides with minimal penalties being served by both teams (only 1 each). A pleasure to watch despite the score not going our way.

Final Score Penguins 5 – 7 Kirkcaldy.  Goals from Jacob Woods(A), Matthew Evans, Liam Houston & 2 from Flynn Massie (C).  Man of the Match – Jacob Woods(A)

Last game of the day

Our Devils (U20’s) away to Kirkcaldy at Fife Ice Arena.

The Devils came out fighting hard but Kirkcaldy were on top of their game and out played The Devils but we never gave up and battled hard showing some grit and team spirit but it just wasn’t to be.

Final Score Devils 2 – 17 Kirkcaldy. Man of the Match – Jack French
