Stars – U14’s Travelled to Kilmarnock Galleon on Saturday to take on Kilmarnock Tornadoes
The stars were looking to carry on the winning streak from last season, but this 1st match against local rivals, Kilmarnock would be a tough game.
Stars opened the scoring thanks to a breakaway goal from Liam Houston sending an excited roar round the rink, this was quickly followed up with a Kilmarnock goal, proving that this was going to me quite a match…. a Stars goal from Josh Carslaw put us ahead at the end of the 1st period.
Stars remained ahead but Killie were snapping at their heels, fighting for every puck in the 2nd period and scoring but the Stars answered by finding the back of the net 2 more times, finishing 2nd period 4-2 ahead.
Entering the 3 period the Stars gave it their all and pushed harder, showing some great unselfish team play enabling Cole McMurdie to score 2 goals within 10 seconds, 4 minutes into the period, This was followed up by a Killie goal a minute later, with an electric atmosphere on and off the ice, Stars sealed the win with final goal from Dylan Murray.
Final score – North Ayrshire Stars 7 – 3 Kilmarnock Tornadoes
