Saturday 30th March
North Ayrshire Sabres v Lanarkshire Lightning U10’s. Hamilton Ice Rink.
The Sabres travelled to Hamilton on the back of last weekends victory looking for another successful trip. However, the team travelled with only 8 players and 1 goalie, meaning that two positions had to be doubled shifted by the kids, making it a tough game before they even put a blade on the ice.
The first two periods were an even match with both teams playing well, passing and creating opportunities. Come the third period the Sabres were able to open up and create a lead which would go on to secure the win.
Great game to watch and well done to the kids for double shifting. Lets hope we can keep the momentum going into the last few games and then the tournaments to end our season. Thanks always to parents for supporting the kids, with a good spectator turnout.
North Ayrshire Penguins v Belfast Junior Giants U12’s. Belfast Ice Arena.
The Penguins were the 2nd team on the ice and with 8 of their players just finished the Stars game, you’d be forgiven for thinking this would be an uphill struggle for them, but it was the opposite. They racked up 4 goals in the 1st period from Lennon Deeney, Emma Lamberton with a power kill pass from Jacob Woods, Liam Houston & Aaron Stewart making it 4-0 going into the 2nd period. The 2nd period found both teams fighting for the goals and showing us some great skills, the 1st goal this period came from Jacob after a lovely pass form Flynn Massie, but Belfast pulled back their 1st goal past Caiden MacColl just before both teams changed their Net minders. Rocco Murray took aim for the Penguins but the Net minder saved it with his helmet. The penguins got another 2 goals from Lennon & Emma before finishing this period 7-1.
The 3rd period was a goal fest for the Penguins who doubled their goals through their experience and superb game play against a young Belfast team, who gave their heart and soul and challenged right till the end. Goals this period came from Aaron Stewart, Rocco finally found a way past the goalie, Flynn Massie with a penalty kill goal followed less than a minute later with a Jacob goal them Arron scores his hat-trick goal 3 minutes later from a pass from Lennon, Did they stop there? No, with 1.19 on the clock Adam scored his 2nd with a pass from Flynn. Belfast managed to get a goal past Penguins Nettie Calum Simmons making that their 2nd before Flynn Massie scored the final goal with 1.09 left on the clock. It was a great day for the Penguins with some fine defending denying Belfast of any chance they might have got. Great team work everyone.

North Ayrshire Stars v Belfast Junior Giants U14’s. Belfast Ice Arena.
The Stars had the 1st of the 3 games over in Belfast and boosting their numbers with a number of U12’s took to the ice with purpose. Belfast were out to deny them and it took 10 mins before Dylan Murray found the back of their net. This period ended 2-1 to the Stars
2nd period started as fast paced as the 1st had ended but this time Dylan scored again with 4 mins gone on the clock after a lovely pass from Josh Carslaw, As the Stars piled on the pressure Captain Jack Neil made a lovely shot only for it to land on the net. It was Josh Carslaw who scored our 4th with jut 1.36 mins left on the clock making it 4-1 to the Stars. The 3rd period started just the same and you might have thought the Stars legs might be tiring on this larger rink, but this turned out to be the Stars best period, with some lovely game play and the team playing for each other saw goals coming from Josh, Adam Bainbridge and another 2 from Dylan but Belfast fought back and managed to score 2 goals.
Final Score: North Ayrshire Stars 8 – 3 Belfast Junior Giants U14’s. Stars Man of the Match: Conor Wood.
