Match reports from 26th & 27th January

North Ayrshire Sabres v Lanarkshire Lightning U10’s at Hamilton Ice Rink.
North Ayrshire sabres travelled to Hamilton looking to make up for a poor performance on their last visit. North ayr started quick out of the blocks racing into a 4 goal lead before Lanarkshire managed to get a reply.
The second period saw Lanarkshire given a glimmer of hope clawing the score back to 6-4 before North ayr found their way to goal again.
The game ended with a convincing 12-4 victory for North Ayr.
The coaches were very impressed and proud with the effort from all the kids. Special mentions go to Brad Ruxton on doing well in his first U10’s game and Lucas Allan for his first U10’s goal… Man of the Match: Lucas Allan.
North Ayrshire Predators v Lanarkshire Lightning at Auchenharvie Ice Rink, Stevenston.
The North Ayrshire Predators welcomed Lanarkshire Lightning under 16’s team to Auchenharvie ice rink on Saturday for their second encounter of the season. The game started at a slow pace with both teams struggling to find their best form and both net minders making comfortable saves in the opening minutes of the 1st period.
The opening goal came in the first period when Antony Curlett went on a solo skate going round a couple of defenders  to put the puck beyond the reach of the Lanarkshire net minder to make it 1-0 to the predators with 9:03 gone in the first period.  The lead was only to last just under 2 minutes with 10:44 on the clock Lanarkshire scored a power play goal first with a 5 on 4 then 5 on 3 the numbers finally told in the end when Mitchell McEwan scored  to tie the game at 1 apiece which held to the end of the first period.
The Predators started the 2nd period the stronger team and four goals inside the first 6 minutes put them five goals to one up.  Goals from Kyle Forsyth, Antony Curlett, Ryan Drummond and Haydn Woods with assists by Haydn Woods on the 2nd Predators goal and Kyle Forsyth and Harry Campbell on the 3rd goal had the Predators 5 goals to 1 up after 21 minutes of the game. Both teams still tried to play Hockey but there was no more scoring in the match with both keepers having fantastic saves in the third period.
Final score Predators 5 Lanarkshire 1
Predators MOM Kyle Forsyth.
North Ayrshire Wold v Solway Stingrays @ Dumfries Ice Bowl.
Sundays game saw the WILD travel to Dumfries to take on the Stingrays, and it wasn’t long before the Wild put the puck in the net with only 59 seconds on the clock, the second goal was only another minute later with 1.59 on the clock but Solway pulled one back in the 15th min, Wild then broke forward and got another goal ending the period Solway 2 Wild 3.
Start of the second period saw some good hockey skills from both teams, this certainly is not the same Stingray team from the start of the season.  This period ended 6-3.
Into the 3rd period and both teams gave their all but Wild were in front on skillgoals and on penalty mins, with a total of 16 mins compared to Solway with mins.  Was this going to be costly for the Wild!
The Wild dug deep and managed to keep the Stingrays at bay, ending the game 8-5 to the Wild. With Gary Parkin scoring a hatrick and Gary Parker getting 5 assists, it was an outstanding performance from them both.
Certainly the coaching staff have been working well with the team, who seriously improved on last week with 54 shots on goal. Man of the Match: Ryan Parkin.
