Learn To Play & Sabres (U10s)
Welcome to the Learn to Play and Sabres U10s page.
Ice Hockey develops skills on the ice that build a foundation for a lifetime. In addition to athletic skills, hockey promotes confidence, pride, focus and responsibility. With a big emphasis on fun, hockey is a game to be played and enjoyed for life.
Manager: Keith Ruxton
Coaches: Matthew Miller, Chris Burwood, Sean Woods, Jamie Miller, Haydn Woods & Harry Campbell.
(notice may be given occasionally of rink unavailability, where this happens alternative ice times are usually put in place)
LTP – every Saturday – on ice 12.45 until 2.45pm. Please email email@example.com for more details and to arrange a suitable day to come down and get kitted up. (Players to be at rink for 12.15 to kit up).
Sabres Training - every Saturday - on ice 12.45 - 2.45pm. (Players to be at rink for 12.15 to kit up in changing rooms).
Older training sessions take place during Wednesday and Thursday evenings.
(Our clubs Goalie training takes place the first Wednesday of every month, when this happens the training session starts later and is only on for one hour).
Our training season finishes at the end of June and no training takes place during the month of July. We start back in August for the new season and all yearly registrations take place then.
SPECIAL OFFER: Come and try out for 10 weeks for only £40 - 1st two weeks are free and get the remaining 8 weeks for £40.
We offer an initial free two week trial period and then a four week pay weekly (£5 per week) prior to starting, Club membership monthly fee payments.
This is to give you the opportunity to make sure your child enjoys the sport before making a commitment.
A yearly registration fee is also payable of £80 (Scottish Ice Hockey Association SIHA Registration) which covers your child’s insurance for the year. This allows your child to participate in games/ ice hockey training camps etc. at home and away rinks (If registering after 31st March 2020 the yearly membership fee is not payable, your child will be covered under NAIHCs insurance; however they will not be able to participate in any ice sessions other than training at their registered age group).
Any questions relating to Club fees can be sent by email to firstname.lastname@example.org
Kit can be borrowed from NAIHC for a short period of time during the trial period of 6 weeks and for a maximum of two months thereafter. Should a longer kit hire period be required please speak to off ice management.
All kit is to be handed back in at the end of every session and IS NOT TO BE REMOVED from the rink.
Lost kit may be charged for.
We have a Facebook page where NAIHC members can sell on their ice hockey kit once its outgrown their player, this may be helpful for building your kit when starting out.
Throughout the year we hope to arrange X-ice events where we will involve players who are ready to participate in short games playing on a reduced sized ice rink (typically width ways across the ice).
These events will be held at Auchenharvie as well as away rinks.
Typically, they last approximately 2 hours and a minimum of 5 to 6 games are played.
Each game lasts approximately 10 minutes.
This is a great experience for the children to get more ice time and a feel for game play against opposing teams.
If attending an away event, you need to make your own way to and from the venue and often there is an entrance fee payable into the rink for spectators only (Typically £5-£7).
More details of these events will be given throughout the season.
It is extremely important that when requests come out for your child to attend such events that you reply back to your Manager quickly.
When requests to attend come out, booking confirmations still have to be made and we are just one of many teams who attend.
Events cannot be booked until we know attendance numbers.
PLEASE NOTE only players insured with SIHA can attend these events.
The proposal this year is to continue with the format of using the ‘Team App’, this allows
- parents to see when and where games are being played (at all age groups).
- Updated news about NAIHC and other associated organisations.
- Links to NAIHC social media eg. Facebook, Twitter.
- You can add your child’s Player Profile for their appropriate team.
How to get Team App (this is a free app):
To get the full features of this App you need to download Team App onto your smartphone (www.teamapp.com/app).
Launch Team App, then:
- Sign-up to Team App. You'll be sent an email to confirm your registration.
- Log in and search for NAIHC to become a member.
